Dr. Treasure Means DVM

Owner/ Veterinarian

I was born in Texas, but moved to Wister Oklahoma at a very young age, where I grew up playing sports and showed goats at Wister Public School. I have always had a strong love for animals which lead me to working at Leflore County Veterinary Clinic as a kennel kid when I was 16 years old. This is where my passion for science, medicine and my love for animals blossomed and led me down the path to Veterinary Medicine. I am an alumnus of both Carl Albert State College and Oklahoma State University where I graduated from vet school in 2018. After graduation I returned to Poteau along with my Husband Justin Means who also grew up in Wister, and began working with Dr. Stokes. Since returning to Leflore County I gave birth to two beautiful daughters Emra born 2019 and Thea born 2023. They have now become Leflore County’s professional puppy and kitten cuddle specialist. I also truly love my fur babies and currently have 2 dogs Daisy (2009) and Hero (2021), and one cat named Kiki (2009).

I have been truly blessed to have had such a great mentor in Dr. Stokes who has helped mold me into the Vet I am today. It is a great honor to continue the legacy that is Leflore County and I am very thankful to Dr. Stokes for entrusting me with it. My commitment and I hope is to live up to the name.

As a veterinarian some of my passions include: strengthening the bond between pets and theirs owners and to provide owners with the resources and knowledge to keep their beloved pets happy and healthy. I am strongly passionate about contributing in our community. During my time at vet school I volunteered at Operation Cat Nip which is a trap, neuter, and release program. I hope to one day be able to kick off a similar program here in Leflore County. I currently work with the humane society and a few other individuals in helping spay and neuter the feral cat population.

I look forward to serving the people of Leflore County and surrounding areas for many years to come.
